About Laynie

Laynie Kelly is a marketing advisor | advertising creator, and enthusiastic writer and photographer.

Growing up, motorsport was a way of life.  Three elders brothers who customised showed and raced their machines to National Championships, and International record holding provided the platform for Laynie tag along.

She followed in the best way she knew how as a teenager … straight into Sports Management.  She started assisting a Qld Racing club, and quickly developed into management.  She developed the club into the premier motorcycle racing promoter within the state, and one of the most prominent in the country in the mid-80s.

Since then she has managed race teams, riders in WSS and WSBK, and in recent years the marketing and communications for the short-lived Benelli Race Team.  As a consultant, she was able to assist with the government funding for the development of Western Sydney International Dragway.  Her pedigree in motorsport is impressive, and long, to say the least!

I worked on the Toshiba Yamaha team when Warren Wiling was the race team manager.

Warren was building a H2 750 Kawasaki foir a customer. he asked me to jet the fully modified bike and handed me the trade plate !! I had trouble doing this on the streets of the north shore of Sydney. When I returned to the workshop and spoke with Warren, he walked inside, grabed his helmet and took this H2750 for a ride around the busy streets of Artarmon. The year was I think about 1983.
If everyone would prefer to remeber Warren having never ridden a bike since his accident then fine, but it is not true. 😉

Warren & I also did a few laps on my RS250 Honda at AIR in 1985. I was sponsoring Geoff Mcnaughton at the time and Warren was the mechanic. 🙂
