JB’s Stolen History

Jim was naturally a generous person, but unfortunately some people took advantage of that generosity over the years.

They either took, stole or permanently borrowed from him.

  • Initially what was stolen was his 1978 6-Hour trophies.  This absolutely broke his heart, and he never wanted to own anything again after that because “they will just take it from you”.  His bitterness became extreme, and last the rest of his life.
  • In the 1980s we lent a copy of the personally signed and dedicated “Wayne Gardner” autobiography book to someone, who has never had the decency to return it.  He had the deepest respect for Gardner and this was just another disappointment.
  • He also donated his Kawasaki leathers to “someone” who was connected to the Motorcycle Museum in Bathurst.  They never arrived up there, and we never saw them again.  Updated – I heard they were tossed onto the dump years ago.

Somebody somewhere still has, or has seen them.  These things aren’t that significant, but they are important to me, as they belonged to JB.

On the slightest chance that they are still in existence can you please let me know. Please return them to their rightful owner no questions asked.

Update:  Received some pics over Christmas 2016 from someone who bought some 6 Hour memorabilia – the perpetual trophy.  But his trophies for the 1976 and 1978 wins are still missing.
